Enterprise Architecture

Navstar has been providing infrastructure services to our customers for the past decade. These services have ranged from the Administration of Large Systems through the implementation of Disaster Recovery Solutions. Our solutions are implemented with controls that adhere to Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure Library (ITILĀ®) practices. By focusing on solutions at the services level, Navstar is able to engineer and implement cost-effective solutions that are reliable and easy to manage. Carl Belso, heads up this division as the Director of Technical Solutions.

One of the primary goals of present-day IT solutions is to lower costs in terms of implementation and operations. The key to achieving this goal is consolidation. Consolidation lowers implementation and operational costs by allowing for the use of shared resources, supporting services and personal. By sharing supporting services like networks, storage, and monitoring, economy of scale can be realized for these services. An additional costs savings benefit in consolidation is sharing of staff resources. This benefit actually has 2 dimensions; more efficient use of staff and knowledge sharing. Efficiency is achieved by presenting a larger workload that contains several repeatable tasks to the system management staff. The other benefit is the ability to share knowledge and solutions. Once a solution is developed, it can easily be shared with other staff. Navstar has demonstrated the benefits of consolidation at the Treasury Communications Project (TCS), where we managed approximately 200 servers and 40 network devices.
