Navstar has successfully engineered and deployed the following services for our customers:

• Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations (DR/COOP): Navstar implemented a detailed, disaster-recovery solution. The solution used a service oriented approach, addressing the requirements at a service level. The result was a very cost-effective solution which can be operational in a few hours.
• Knowledge Management Solutions: As part of our efforts to deploy ITIL based approaches to IT management, Navstar developed and deployed a knowledge management system for internal IT operations. This system used Open Source tools to create a database of Know Errors and Work Arounds. Additionally, the solution is also used to provide a repository for how-to articles, system information, and other documentation.
• Email Processing Solutions: Navstar reengineered a complex email processing solution. This system processes an average of 4 million emails a day and is able to address large peaks in demand. The solution provides both virus scanning and spam tagging of all inbound emails.
• Consolidation through the deployment of virtualized services: In an effort to lower operational costs for our customers, Navstar implemented the virtualization of several services. This allowed for a cost savings in terms of system level operation expenses and hardware costs. In addition, another benefit was an innovative approach to upgrade and patching activities that virtually eliminated the risk associated with this type of activity.
• Network Management Systems (NMS) solution: Monitoring is a key component to successful IT management. Navstar has designed and implemented complex monitoring solutions for both network related services and host related services. These solutions use both commercial of the shelf software (COTS) and Open Source tools. Navstar’s NMS solutions have resulted in significant benefits for our customers in terms of availability.
