Navstar Inc. Announced as a 2014 Helios Apollo Award Finalist

Navstar Inc. has announced that it has been named a finalist for the Helios Apollo Awards. Navstar is one of 5 finalists in the Thio category, which is based on employee size. The finalists, selected from a pool of nearly 200 nominations, represent organizations from the Washington, DC metropolitan area that promote employee development as part of their culture.

Navstar was selected by a panel of independent judges for the innovation and impact of their employee development programs as they relate to engagement, growth and community service.

Since 2007, Helios has recognized outstanding organizations that build “cultures of intention” throughout the Greater Washington area each year. “Our program recognizes leaders for their contributions in building organizational cultures that foster employee development and community impact, creating a stronger community at large. And our event provides a unique combination of collaboration, connections and content,” states Kathy Albarado, CEO of Helios HR.

Navstar Loves Our Veterans!

From Aug 2012 through Aug 2013, Navstar had a Veterans hiring goal of 7%, based on size guidelines from the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (http://www.dol.gov/ofccp/).

In reality over 28% of Navstar new hires during this timeframe were Veterans, and our total company headcount from August 2012 – August 2013 had a Veterans population of 17.65% – far exceeding our target of 7%.
