As the largest technology council in the nation, NVTC serves about 1,000 companies and organizations, including businesses from all sectors of the technology industry, service providers, universities, non-profit organizations and government agencies. Through its member companies, NVTC represents about 300,000 employees in the region.
NVTC has challenged member companies like Navstar to commit a total of 10,000 volunteer hours in the coming school year to support students and teachers in the K-12 pipeline through SySTEMic Solutions and the Equal Footing Foundation (EFF), the charitable arm of NVTC.
In addition to engaging with the Equal Footing Foundation computer clubhouses, NVTC is proud to partner with SySTEMic Solutions, Northern Virginia Community College’s (NOVA) Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing (STEM) outreach program that has been expanding throughout the region to develop a sustainable pipeline of STEM educated students and skilled workers.
With collaboration among school divisions, university partners, businesses, and community organizations, SySTEMic Solutions engages students as early as elementary school and inspires and supports them to pursue STEM education into high school and higher education institutions and into STEM careers.
“Northern Virginia has one of the most diverse, multicultural populations in the world. However, segments of our population do not have the education and skill sets needed to participate productively in the knowledge economy that has been created. There is urgency to act now and work together to build our STEM pipeline with students who are excited about STEM throughout their K-12 Years. I invite you to join SySTEMic Solutions and make a vital and sustainable impact in Northern Virginia.” – Dr. Robert Templin- President Northern Virginia Community College
