The Smart CEO Brava! Awards Program recognizes and celebrates female CEOs, non-profit leaders and high impact executives who combine their irrepressible entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for giving back to the community. Brava! Award winners are exemplary leaders of both their companies and their communities. They encourage local philanthropy, mentor up-and-coming leaders and set their companies on the path to tremendous growth.
Each year, an independent committee of local business leaders selects Brava! winners based on company growth, community impact and mentoring. SmartCEO shares their inspiring stories in the July/August issue of Washington SmartCEO magazine and celebrated their success at an awards reception in July 2015.
Joanna has worked diligently over the past 16 years to build a company where every employee can be inspired and thrive by pursuing their passion and working on meaningful homeland security projects. Joanna’s passion for Navstar continues as does her dedication to her “Navstar All Stars”. Under Joanna’s leadership, the Navstar executive team and the entire staff continue to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction while focusing on company growth by pursuing increasingly larger contracts.
Joanna’s dedication and passion doesn’t stop with Navstar. She is also very active in charity work in the community. She personally contributes both time and money to many charity organizations that assist people who are less fortunate, military service men and women, children with medical needs, and also animal rescue organizations. During the winter holidays, Joanna helps pack and deliver care packages with clothing, food and gift certificates for the homeless. She also takes time from her busy schedule to mentor others by offering direction and advice, assisting with resume writing and even helping in the interview process.
“Brava winners possess the utmost qualities in a leader — vision, passion, compassion, dedication, perseverance. Every one of this year’s winners exhibits these qualities in running their business, their families and their philanthropic activities. They give 110 percent of themselves,” says Jaime Nespor, regional president of SmartCEO Media. “We are honored and humbled to recognize a group of women who are truly making a difference in the world.”
This year 32 powerhouse female business leaders will be recognized in SmartCEO’s Brava! Awards program at an awards reception in July 2015. An expected sell-out event, 300 local C-level executives and guests will attend to celebrate their achievements. Past Brava! winners will also be in attendance to welcome the new class of winners and grow the community.
